Casa Murguia was created as a private home by acclaimed weaver & painter Arnulfo Mendoza and his wife Mary Jane Mendoza, writer & lecturer on Oaxaca art, culture and folk traditions. As creators of the renowned folk art gallery La Mano Mágica and owners of Casa Sagrada Vacation Retreat in Teotitlan del Valle, you will see the artist’s eye merge with traditional design detailing in our residential suites. Though the handmade tapestries, , mosaic tiles, custom ironwork and native gardens color, light and texture are woven into the fabric of your Mexican vacation retreat.
Enjoy being a resident during your stay in Oaxaca and live in a truly Mexican home. Our individual suites are completely furnished with hand-selected folk art and classic Oaxacan furnishings. With our fully appointed kitchens, you can go shopping at the nearby local markets and actually purchase the fresh and exotic! . The Bird of Paradise Suite is our full one-bedroom suite and the Bougainvillea Suite is our studio apartment. Our suites at Casa Murguia are designed to face our hand-tiled mosaic swimming pool and can be rented separately or together. Both suites are completely furnished with all the necessities so you can enjoy every moment of your vacation while in Oaxaca.
